Who are family portraits for and why they are so important II Paris Family Photographer

They are for you, you, and you too! you know I am talking about you.

Having your family photographed is just the best way to stop the time.

Whether it’s to celebrate life’s major milestones, document growth or any other reason, whether it’s your first or the eight photoshoot it will always be a different experience at a different time. I have this portrait of my daughter on her birthday last year. That baby? She doesn’t exist anymore, she has changed, grown, evolved into a deeper and more colorful version of herself (and lost some of that baby face.. Insert me crying.) Portaits bring your family together, and will bring you SO MUCH joy every time you catch a glimpse of your loved ones smiling. And in hard times they can bring comfort and healing vibes. (Believe me, been there, done that too. Even the family portraits we had done when I was in chemo and could barely look at myself are so cherished.)

Catching those candid moments when time stands still is what makes them so special. There are hundred of reasons why family portraits are so important, but did you know that studies show that having your families’ photographs hung in your house increases your children’s self-esteem !?

There was well know study conducted by Tulane university in 1975 with a group of 10- year olds. The study chose two groups of children with below average self-esteem scores. Over a period of five weeks the first group did no special activities. The second group was given polaroid cameras and assigned tasks. They were to photograph themselves in various poses, in different situations, they then had to create scrapbooks and albums with the prints once a week.

When researchers repeated the self-esteem test after five weeks, there was a 37% increase in their self-esteem!!

A 37% increase just from seeing themselves in photos for five weeks! Can you then imagine the power of you child seeing themselves in photos every single day in your home?

You can literally offer you children a gift of self-esteem and ist’t it what every parent wants for their kids?
