A Love Affair With Paris II Paris Lifestyle Photographer

Paris is one of those cities that people seem to fall in love with. They dream about it, they come back over and over again.. Maybe it's the piping hot croissants or the city's stunning architecture that pulls them in, but it's without a doubt a city of dreams.

When I met beautiful Caroline, she told me about how Paris changed her life, and each time she comes back, it's like a homecoming. It was so important to me to make portraits of her in places she loves and feels her best in.. where her personality can come alive, where she can look back in 30 years and feel the same joy and peace in her heart.

We spent about two hours walking around the 6th, talking, and enjoying her favorite places. What I love so much about these portraits are a sense of discovery yet peace. She's home yet there's still wonder there.

This was absolutely one of my FAVORITE sessions from last spring!! Have you done solo portraits before? What was your experience like? Please comment below! If you'd like to book a session like this, please contact us HERE.

An Ode to You II Lifestyle Women Portraits by Katie Donnelly

The Invitation

by Oriah

It doesn’t interest me

what you do for a living.

I want to know

what you ache for

and if you dare to dream

of meeting your heart’s longing

It doesn’t interest me

how old you are.

I want to know

if you will risk

looking like a fool

for love

for your dream

for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me

what planets are

squaring your moon…

I want to know

if you have touched

the centre of your own sorrow

if you have been opened

by life’s betrayals

or have become shrivelled and closed

from fear of further pain.

I want to know

if you can sit with pain

mine or your own

without moving to hide it

or fade it

or fix it.

I want to know

if you can be with joy

mine or your own

if you can dance with wildness

and let the ecstasy fill you

to the tips of your fingers and toes

without cautioning us

to be careful

to be realistic

to remember the limitations

of being human.

It doesn’t interest me

if the story you are telling me

is true.

I want to know if you can

disappoint another

to be true to yourself.

If you can bear

the accusation of betrayal

and not betray your own soul.

If you can be faithless

and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty

even when it is not pretty

every day.

And if you can source your own life

from its presence.

I want to know

if you can live with failure

yours and mine

and still stand at the edge of the lake

and shout to the silver of the full moon,

It doesn’t interest me

to know where you live

or how much money you have.

I want to know if you can get up

after the night of grief and despair

weary and bruised to the bone

and do what needs to be done

to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me

who you know

or how you came to be here.

I want to know if you will stand

in the centre of the fire

with me

and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me

where or what or with whom

you have studied.

I want to know

what sustains you

from the inside

when all else falls away.

I want to know

if you can be alone

with yourself

and if you truly like

the company you keep

in the empty moments.

I found this poem ages and ages ago, and every time I read it, I feel it.

Every time I read it, it’s somehow transformed and goes deeper.

I hope you feel it too.

- Katie

P.S. I took these portraits for fun and to get my creative juices going. They're of the incredibly talented Shyrell, Owner of Enchanté Studios. Thank you for being my muse and friend.

P.P.S If you’re looking for a local Hawaii photographer, I’d recommend getting in touch with the incredible Aubrey Hord. You won’t be disappointed.

My Favorite Design Studio - Saevil Row II Paris Lifestyle Photographer

I'm someone who feels a situation out before I commit to anything. A relationship, a restaurant, a city.. I work on emotions for my final decisions. If it's yes, it should be a hell yes! If it's a meh, I don't go with it.

For my business I work with people who I like personally and who I know are technically sound, creatively passionate and reliable. I like both people who think like me and people who don't. I want people in my life who can change my mind, broaden my horizons and inspire me.

That's who I am.

Rachelle of Saevil Row and I became friends quickly and with certainty. She's sweet and sarcastic, has a specific tastes in style and life, is passionate about design, passionate about her relationships and is dependable. She's a dream chaser. An onion of layers of kindness, integrity and taste.

Recently she launched her new design studio website, Saevil Row, and I had the ultimate pleasure of photographing it and her.

She also has a gorgeous petit print shop with 8x10 prints for sale to decorate your home.

My favorite? "Cultivate Kindness"

My print is front in center in my living room, reminding me every day to do just that!

Recently, she also redid my logo and I'm ecstatic! (You can see it at the top of the page) It's perfect. Full of life, modern, with bright warm colors and absolutely what I was hoping for but would never have dreamed of! I can't put into words how happy it makes me to see it throughout my website and branding. It makes me even happier knowing that I'm supporting such a good person and passionate designer. I can't recommend her enough.

You can see her website here if you'd like to take a look through some of the photos we did and through the beautiful work she's done in the past: http://saevilrow.co/

PUBLISHED: Katie Donnelly for Image Magazine - Lifestyle Portrait Photographer

How cool is this? Going to work and being able to photograph other artists in Paris. And not any other artists, Irish artists successfully doing their thing here. Diverse and inspirational, each person had their own flavor and type of work. Check them out in the spread I did for Image Magazine.

What I loved about this was spending a few minutes together and chatting about their current projects. Everyone was so diverse but fell into the same 'Irish artist in Paris' category.

Thanks a million to Aoife Drew for producing the shoot and writing this beautiful piece!

EffiCity Portraits II Portraits Professionnels, Photographe Professionnelle Paris Ile de France

For the last month I've had the huge privilege of working with the business EffiCity on portraits for their new recruitment website. You can see the site here as well as some of the full portraits below!

The people below are real estate agents around France with EffiCity. What was really fantastic about this project is that it gave me the opportunity to travel to different cities in France like Nantes and Lyon. Just a few weeks after, I photographed their semi-annual company "reunion", they call D-Day, where I got to meet tons of other agents with the group as well as catch up with my "models" after they had seen the final results of the photographs. What I received was the warmest welcome from everyone and huge gratitude for my work. Needless to say, it was a wonderful experience with a company that when you enter, feels more like family.

(The last two portraits are of the founders of EffiCity, Christophe and Malik. Two really cool guys, extremely dedicated to their company and most of all, it's employees.)

Jogg.in in Paris - Executive Portraits

If you're like me then you have your running shoes ready to go at any point, that's well of course after you brush off the thin layer of dust accumulating from weeks of saying, "Shoes, I'll see you this afternoon for our run!" and then instead of going for an afternoon run, an afternoon coffee or cocktail date takes priority. Well kicks, I've officially found your chance to be broken out and it comes in the form of the coolest new "social media" site of sorts called Jogg.in! After months of hearing the idea develop and then seeing snip-its of all of the extraordinary work behind it, I'm so excited to share that the "beta" form is up and may I say, "running"! (Sorry, I had to.)

The idea of jogg.in is connect runners, joggers, walkers and people who want to be. You can create your own session at a certain time in a certain place with a certain plan (1km, 5km, 100km and anything in between!). People can join you to run or you can join other people to run! It's pretty much as simple as that! People have their own profiles with their running level that include languages they speak and any past runs they've been on. Oh, and it's FREE. Awesome, right?

For me, I can't help but think about how fantastic this is for meeting people as well as discovering your city! As of this moment it's only for Paris runners but once it's extended think about just how great would it be to travel, meet new people and venture through new cities all through being active! Talk about a million dollar idea, right?

Well besides supporting the jogg.in guys and spreading the word, I wanted to give you guys the chance to meet them right here! Three handsome guys with a passion for spreading good and including some fitness into life. I had the pleasure of photographing them and hearing more about jogg.in a few weeks ago and since have been eagerly waiting to share these photos with you to celebrate the start of their awesome new venture.

Thomas, Théo and Laurent... you rock and I can't wait to see this little idea which turned into a huge venture become much and more than you have ever hoped! Big love and a huge "good luck" from your favorite American photographer in Paris.
